
Gracie Westergaard
Classical IPR internGracie Westergaard is a trombonist from Northern California and a recent graduate of Capital University with a degree in Instrumental Music Performance. Her passion for playing the trombone began during middle school, and she has been an active participant in various band ensembles both within and outside of school.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Gracie joined the Gordon Goodwin Soundhouse Studios Phathouse Band. The band went on to win the 2021 High School Honors in Downbeat Magazine. In the same year, she also received the prestigious Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the field of Jazz.
At Capital University, Gracie was a member of several top ensembles, including Symphonic Winds, Big Band, Jazz Consort, and Trombone Choir. She also hosted and produced her own weekly radio show, Subliminal Sundays, featuring a unique themed show every week.
Beyond music performance and radio programming, Gracie teaches private low brass lessons, and manages social media for Buckeye Brass and Winds, a music store in Plain City, Ohio.
In her free time, Gracie enjoys cycling the scenic Columbus bike trails, knitting, and spending quality time with her family.
