This week, the Interlochen Adult Choir Camp is celebrating a renewed love for singing.
Interlochen is proud to welcome Dr. Amanda Quist as the new Director of the Adult Choir Camp. A nationally recognized conductor and educator, Dr. Quist brings both extensive experience and enthusiasm for choral music to her first summer at Interlochen.
Dr. Quist is the Director of Choral Activities at Western Michigan University, her alma mater, and was recently named the Music Director of the Spoleto Festival USA Chorus. Previously, she taught at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music and at Westminster Choir College, where she received the Distinguished Teaching Award. She was also nominated for a Grammy for "Lumina," their debut solo recording.
This summer’s choir features about 150 singers, ranging from those with doctoral degrees in choral activities to individuals returning to singing after years away. Dr. Quist’s goal is to create an inclusive, welcoming space that supports every individual singer’s growth.
The Adult Choir Camp culminates in a free public concert on Saturday, June 28 at 12 p.m. at Interlochen's Corson Auditorium. More information can be found here or by visiting Interlochen's Concerts and Events Page.
