4th of July Flag Raising Ceremony

4th of July Flag Raising Ceremony

Join community members of all ages in celebrating the founding of our nation in a joyous and patriotic ceremony, 10 am, July 4th at Old Settlers Picnic Grounds on Glen Lake. The traditional raising of the flag by the Glen Lake Fire Department will be followed by a singalong of well-loved and familiar patriotic songs. The event is sponsored by the Glen Lake Woman’s Club. Bench seating is limited and guests are invited to bring lawn chairs. After the program the chapel at Old Settlers Park will be open for tours. The Ceremony and Chapel tours are concluded in plenty of time to make it to the Glen Arbor Parade.

Marge Maxbauer, Chair of the 4th of July Celebration Committee, is pleased to announce that Ed Peplinski is the featured speaker. Mr. Peplinski is an Air Force Veteran. His Independence Day speech is titled, “Pulling Together as Americans through Gratitude.”

In addition to the 4th of July Flag Raising Ceremony, other Club projects include The Glen Arbor Art Fair (July 15th), the improvement and beautification of the Chapel and grounds at Old Settlers Park, Empire Trunk or Treat, and a Christmas party for residents of the Maple Valley Nursing Home.
