Grammy ® nominated Cellist, Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, Producer Hans Christian will be performing at the Old Art Building!
Using the cello in combination with live looping and various ethnic string instruments, Hans Christian explores a universal musical language that transcends boundaries, cultures, and generations.
During a live looping concert, Hans will record musical phrases that create harmonic and ambient textures in ever changing colors and densities. Audiences will be offered a listening experience that ranges from meditative to passionate, at times with a soaring cello that is supported by a fully orchestrated layer of strings while at other times dissolving into ambient meditative sound paintings. The artist also incorporates esoteric string instruments, such as the Indian sarangi, to blend with the cello and thereby giving the concert an expanded ethnic flavor. Additionally, audiences may find sound bowls, cymbals, and flutes appear during a concert.
The Letter League is the story of finding human connection during the pandemic. When Heather Spooner, owner of Ampersand Lettering Lab, launched the idea in April 2020, the response was immediate, and enthusiastic. Since that time, Spooner has connected more than 550 letter writers from around the world with one another. The Letter League also caught the attention of Los Angeles filmmaker Michelle Boyaner of Greenie Films, and a documentary about “stories of connection in a disconnected time” was created.
Join us for the documentary’s Traverse City premiere at the Dennos Museum Center!

We walk to support one another, to celebrate those who are on the spectrum and those who live with or love someone with Autism. We walk to increase awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders and promote inclusivity.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today and the prevalence continues to increase.
Because Autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with Autism has a distinct set of strengths and areas of need. Research has made clear that high quality early intervention services including Applied Behavior Analysis can improve learning, communication, and social skills, as well as underlying brain development.
Event organizer Christine Dillon notes that about 215 people participated in the 8th annual walk last year. Participation has been continuing to grow each year with many returning participants from as far away as the Grand Rapids area.
