From June through August, Norte hosts Balance Bike Club meetups for first-time riders in Traverse City and Elk Rapids. These low-key, drop-in affairs are fun for everyone—no need to bring your bike, as we have plenty to lend out.

Join The Kingsley Folk School at Kingsley Branch Library for a relaxed, no-prep storytelling community circle. Inspired by NPR’s The Moth, the Everyone Has a Story series invites you to simply show up and share—no scripts, no pressure. Just real moments from your life, told in the moment.
Together, we’ll listen, laugh, reflect, and connect with neighbors through the power of spontaneous storytelling.
Participants are welcome to speak for up to 5 minutes, or simply come to enjoy the stories and the sense of community.
This gathering happens on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the Kingsley Branch Library.

Curious about pottery, but not ready to commit to a full multi-week session? This one day workshop offers the perfect chance to have a hands-on opportunity to experience the magic of creating on the potter’s wheel. Working on the wheel, for just three hours, offers a fun introduction to the process-and every attempt is part of the learning experience. The basics of wedging, centering, and shaping will be explored with the guidance of an experienced potter.Enjoy one-on-one support and a relaxed, creative atmosphere at our Thoreson Farm studio.
While finished pieces aren’t guaranteed, if you create something you’d like to keep, you may need to return during Open Studio to glaze your piece at a later date.
All materials and tools are provided—just bring your curiosity and willingness to try new things.
NOTE: Finished pieces are normally ready for pick up within 2-4 weeks.
