The Oliver Art Center's annual Juried Exhibition showcases the best work of regional artists in all media. Visitors will find paintings, photography, sculpture, fiber art and more.

The reception on Saturday, October 10th, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, is free and open to the public.

Exhibit open during normal business hours:

Step back in time at the 1842 Dougherty Mission House built by Chief Agosa, the Odawa and Ojibwe people and Rev. Peter Dougherty. Explore life from 1842 to 1917 through the house, outbuildings and demonstration garden.

See unusual pure American chestnut trees. Docent led tours Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11am to 4pm. Discover the Mission House that gave Old Mission Peninsula its name.

The stars align on October 17th in Downtown Traverse City!

Witches Night Out is back for its THIRD ANNUAL celebration!

On Saturday, October 17th from 5–9 PM, Downtown Traverse City will transform into a Halloween-themed evening of magic, mischief, shopping, dining, costumes, and community.

Gather your coven, grab your broomsticks, and dress like a witch — costumes are highly encouraged!

Witches Night Out is a downtown-wide event, with participating businesses welcoming witches and magical creatures into their shops throughout the evening. Each business gets to create its own experience, so you never quite know what you'll discover around the next corner.

Come hang out with us for live music. We'll be serving wine, seasonal cocktails, cider, coffee, and tapas-style small plates to share. Bring your crew or show up solo — Dune Bird is that kind of place.

This is a free event — no reservation required. Seating is first come, first served.

Torch Area Artisans Guild (TAAG) meets every Tuesday from 10am-12pm. We have been creating art and contributing to our community for over 40 years. We are quilters, embroiderers, knitters, weavers, painters, potters, jewelers, and more; all artists welcome!

Public art is one of the most visible expressions of a community’s identity—but the work behind it can feel surprisingly isolated. This Caffeinated Conversation brings together arts commissioners, arts councils, municipal leaders, and public art advocates for a candid exchange of ideas, challenges, and opportunities.

Facilitated by Caitlin Early, the session will explore how public art takes shape across different communities—from murals and installations to policy, partnerships, and planning. What’s working? Where are the sticking points? How do we advocate for public art as essential infrastructure?

This is a peer-driven discussion, not a presentation. Expect practical insight, honest conversation, and the chance to connect with others doing similar work across the region.

Caitlin Early (she/her) is the Campaign & Development Officer at TART Trails, and is the curator of their trailside public art program Art on the TART. She also serves on the Traverse City Arts Commission.
