In this parent/adult and child workshop, students will be guided step by step on how to create one or two Michigan-themed slab mugs. Students will also be shown different surface techniques to make their mug as unique as Northern Michigan. What a great souvenir!! No experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided.
All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. After kiln firing, your mugs will be available for pick up at a later date.
The Guided Walking History Tours of Traverse City will begin its tenth season on July 9th, following the National Cherry Festival.
The informative tour is about two and a half hours covering a two-mile route. The tours begin at the Perry Hannah Plaza, located at the corner 6th and Union St. near downtown.
There is no charge for the tours, but gratuities for the guides are appreciated. Groups of six or more can schedule tours at other times.
For 2025 our 10:00 AM walking tours begin on Wednesday July 9th and continue daily through October 8th. No reservations are needed, simply arrive by 10:00 AM please.
The 1842 Dougherty Mission House opens its 2025 tour season on Wednesday, June 4th. Docents welcome guests Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Jack Lankford, a Traverse City local, is passionate about crafting unique, flavorful experiences—both in the community and in a glass. As an experienced mocktail maker and educator, he has taught hands-on classes at Interlochen Center for the Arts, guiding participants through the art of syrup making, herbal and floral infusions, and crowd-pleasing drink recipes. Jack believes that great drinks bring people together, and his workshops are all about creativity, connection, and fun.
