Health Benefits of the Clean Energy Transition: Panel Discussion
Health Benefits of the Clean Energy Transition: Panel Discussion
The Michigan Clinicians for Climate Action (MiCCA) is honored to invite Debra Hendrickson, MD, author of The Air They Breathe to Traverse City on May 31.
Dr. Hendrickson is a pediatrician in Reno, Nevada—the fastest warming city in the United States, where ash falls like snow during summer wildfires. In her book, she recounts patients she’s seen who were harmed by worsening smoke, smog, and pollen; two boys in Arizona, stricken by record-setting heat while hiking; children who fled for their lives from Hurricane Harvey and the Tubbs Fire; and a little girl whose life was forever altered by the Zika virus outbreak in 2016.
Dr. Hendrickson’s talk will be followed by a panel discussion, featuring local healthcare practitioners from a diverse range of specialties. Panelists will discuss how climate change is manifesting in their fields, how health professionals can take action, and what the general public should know about the intersections of climate change and public health.
