Proposal 1 on recreational marijuana: PASSED

This proposal will authorize and legalize possession, use and cultivation of marijuana products. Michigan residents need to be 21 years or older. Under this proposal there will be a 10 percent tax and a state licensing system for marijuana business; municipalities can ban or restrict these businesses. There will also be a 10-ounce marijuana limit for all residences. A number of violations will be reduced from crimes to civil infractions under this proposal.

Proposal 2 on redistricting: PASSED

This is a proposed constitutional amendment. It will establish a commission of citizens with exclusive authority to adopt district boundaries for the Michigan Senate, Michigan House of Representatives and U.S. Congress. The commission will include 13 registered voters: four who identify as affiliated with the two major political parties and five who are unaffiliated. Commissioners will be randomly selected by the Secretary of State. They will be responsible for redrawing district lines every 10 years.

Proposal 3 on voter registration: PASSED

This proposal authorizes automatic and election day voter registration, no-reason absentee voting and straight ticket voting. It will also add current legal requirements for military and overseas voting and post-election audits to the Michigan Constitution.

Mesick Community Schools bond: FAILED

Mesick Consolidated Schools was pursuing $13.7 million bond to build an additional wing onto the high school for the elementary classes, upgrade technology and enhance school safety and security.
