Scientist warns Trump budget cuts to basic research could “devastate American innovation”

President Trump's budget proposal for the 2018 fiscal year continues to send shock waves through the scientific world.

Scientists are warning that the huge cuts in federal science funding pose a threat to our country's role as a world leader in scientific research and innovation.

At special risk under the Trump budget is basic scientific research, the type being done by University of Michigan ecologist Meghan Duffy. She's a public engagement fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
