Come see Dave Varga's collection of vintage lighters on display at Alden District Library. The display runs June 2nd-28th and can be viewed during normal library hours. Fairy Tales will come to life in this program where the animals from these beloved stories will take center stage. With a mix of fairy tale magic, creative expression, and nature exploration, this camp is perfect for kids who love storytelling, animals, and adventure.
By the end of the week, they'll head home with new knowledge, creative crafts, and their very own fairy tale memories!

FREE for Members, $25 for Not-yet Members! Thanks to a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council for our "Stories Told" program, we are able to provide this summer camp workshop for free to our members, a value of $165.

How does a picture book evolve from an idea to a published work? Where do you start? Join author-illustrator Lindsay Moore for a week-long picture book making workshop. Learn about storyboarding, character design, page composition and other effective tools used in visual storytelling to start you on your journey. Bring your own ideas, or borrow a story provided. Students will have the opportunity to storyboard their picture books in progress, build a creative community, and leave with an insider’s knowledge of children’s publishing and a plan for moving forward with their own unique projects.
Each student will receive a sketchbook, pencils, and drawing materials to keep after the workshop.
Come join us in making these no-sew, easy and fun tote bags! Up-cycling for a great cause- helping our neighbors in need. We will be making two totes- one to keep and one will be donated to a local food pantry.

Join Jill, a certified Laughter Yoga leader, from Peaceful Vibrations for a fun filled hour of laughter and fun.
The Club will meet at the Mills Community House in Benzonia and the Beulah Village Park on alternating weeks. Mondays at 7pm.
Laughter yoga involves various movement and breathing exercises to promote intentional laughter.
Breathing exercises are used to connect to the diaphragm and to prepare the lungs for laughter. What follows are a series of ‘laughter exercises’ that combine gentle improvisational movements and playful visualization techniques. Laughter exercises are interspersed with breathing exercises.
Anyone can participate in laughter yoga. It helps to have an open mind and sense of curiosity. No special equipment is needed.
This is free event, all are welcome! Donations will be accepted to support the venues.

You’ve planted the seeds (or plants) and now you have beautiful flowers to put in vases. Join the Friendly Garden Club and learn about flower arranging. The club will be meeting Tuesday, June 24 at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass St.
Members and guests will gather and chat at 10:00 am, followed by the monthly membership meeting at 10:30. At 11:30, the flower arranging committee will present tips and a mini-workshop to improve everyone’s flower displays.

Led by The Benzie Area Historical Society's Steve Veatch.This class provides aspiring nonfiction writers with the foundational tools and strategies needed to successfully launch their projects.
Participants will delve into various aspects of the pre-writing phase, including identifying compelling topics, conducting initial research, developing a clear thesis, and structuring a basic outline. We will explore different nonfiction genres—from memoir and biography to journalistic reporting and explanatory writing—to help writers pinpoint the best fit for their story. Emphasis will be placed on developing a strong authorial voice, understanding ethical considerations in nonfiction, and overcoming common hurdles in the early stages of a writing endeavor. By the end of this course, you will have a well-defined project concept, a preliminary outline, and a clear roadmap for moving forward with their nonfiction work.
