In its 15th Anniversary Season, the Traverse City Dance Project returns with a vibrant six stop summer tour celebrating dance and live music, featuring seven professional dancers from across the country.
Highlights include a new dance work by Jennifer Lott, with music composed by Charlie Millard and performed live by the Charlie Millard Band; NYC-based tap artist Madison Hilligoss; and a premiere by Artistic Director Brent Whitney, followed by a Q&A with the artists.
Join us at The Garden Theater in Frankfort, MI, for this FREE performance. Live music begins at 7:00 PM with the Charlie Millard Band, and the performance starts at 7:30 PM. In this one-day workshop, students will learn a variety of fiber arts skills, including needle felting, embroidery, and embellishment techniques. Young artists will create a needle-felted landscape inspired by the beauty of Northern Michigan. This fun, hands-on class encourages creativity and self-expression while introducing students to the rich, tactile world of fiber arts. Perfect for kids who love to craft, this workshop allows them to experiment with texture and color as they bring their artistic visions to life.

Images and poetry are the essence of the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s current Lobby Gallery exhibit. Poetic Visions Of Port Oneida: Painting And Poems That Reimagine is a series of oil paintings and corresponding poems created by Grand Traverse County artist Wendy McWhorter. This exhibition is in the GAAC’s Lobby Gallery through August 27, 2026.

Author and former book editor Jillian Laine published five books with Sesame Street early in her career, but getting a novel in print was a long game. Over the course of 10 years and 12 manuscripts in various genres, she queried nearly 150 literary agents before getting that elusive "yes." Within two weeks, she had an agent.

The 2nd annual Long Lake Farmers Market will kick off on June 4th and run every Thursday through October 1st from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Stop by the market located at Haywood Park, due east of the Long Lake Township Hall at 8870 N Long Lake Rd, Traverse City, Michigan 49685, near the bocce ball courts.
We are excited to create a community-based farmers market that celebrates the historic agricultural traditions of Long Lake Township, while providing opportunities for Long Lake residents and the surrounding community members to buy and sell locally grown and produced products.
