Americana Revue – Live in Charlevoix
Join Dan Ripke for a special solo performance of the Americana Revue Acoustic Show at the Charlevoix Public Library on April 27th at 6:30 PM.
This engaging program is a journey through classic American roots music
— folk, bluegrass, early country, and blues —
woven together with storytelling, musical history, and humor. More than a concert, it’s an intimate evening of songs that feel timeless, familiar, and full of heart.

If you love front-porch folk, old-time country, and acoustic blues with grit and soul, pull up a chair and enjoy an evening of authentic American music.

This artisans’ group has been creating art and contributing to the community for over 40 years. Newcomers are always welcome!

Kurinuki is a traditional Japanese pottery technique carved from a single clay block. The word means “carving out.” A solid block of clay is minimally shaped and then carved to create the interior and exterior spaces. Spontaneous and showing the marks of the making process, Kurinuki pots tend to be more alive and sculptural than other hand-building methods. An excellent clay experience for beginners, Kurinuki can also be satisfying for experienced clay artists. Some forms made using Kurinuki include yunomi (teacups), boxes, vases, and sippers. In addition, Kurinuki vessels often capture the essence of the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, the beauty within imperfection. Students will be guided in creating a set of yunomi (small drinking vessels) and a vase.

NOTE: Finished pieces are normally ready for pick up within 2-4 weeks

The inaugural Fresh Coast Film Festival: Traverse City (FCFF/tc) brings four days of documentary film to seven venues across the North Boardman Lake District and downtown Traverse City, April 30–May 3, 2026. Presented by the local nonprofit Old Mission Culture Company, the festival features 50+ films celebrating the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest, with nearly two dozen filmmakers attending from 11 states.

Highlights include two evening galas at the City Opera House — the Michigan premiere of the Mary Oliver documentary Saved by the Beauty of the World (May 2) and the northern Michigan premiere of Listers: A Glimpse Into Extreme Birdwatching (May 1) — plus artist panels, outdoor tours, student films, and passholder after-parties at local breweries. Day passes $35 | Gala tickets $20 | GA screenings $10.

This fun comedy begins with a theater-loving narrator playing his favorite cast recording. As the record spins, a 1920s musical springs to life in his apartment. The show-within-a-show follows a wedding disrupted by gangsters, mistaken identities and a tipsy chaperone. Hilarious and heartfelt, it’s both a loving parody and a tribute to the magic of classic musicals.
