Round up the family and head out to Coy Mountain, located at 9011 Valley St. in Alden, to enjoy a romp in the woods and reading a good book along the way. A new story will be placed each month and covers about a 1/2-mile portion of the trail.

Open daily from dawn to dusk. The storybook for the month of September is “How Chipmunk Got His Stripes” by Joseph Bruchac & James Bruchac. Sponsored by Alden District Library.

It’s a hot summer on the street when Blanche moves in with her sister, Stella, and monster of a husband, Stanley. Hoping to stay immersed in her bath with her trusty Rubber Duckie, Blanche’s world of make believe is tested when Stanley’s suspicions begin to surface. You’ll be sweeping the clouds away with laughter from this family-friendly show which explores the importance of the imagination and community as one navigates hard times in life.

Join us for a fun filled day of exploring herb-tastic activities, classes, and local vendors. Share in an allergen friendly, herbified lunch. Offerings include an Herb and Yoga Walk, Herbs for Pain and Inflammation Class, Make Own Herbal Remedies Station, and so much more!

Amy Lipson, LTC Conservation Specialist, and her husband Joe Lipson, owner of Mycotorphy LLC (a local business offering guided mushrooming adventures) will co-lead a foraging adventure to look for interesting fungi, and maybe even find some choice edibles! This mushroom hike will be primarily an on-trail guided walk. If there are not many mushrooms out due to dry weather, we will shift to a standard nature hike.

To celebrate SunDay, Sept. 20, Leelanau Energy has invited acclaimed Michigan environmental advocate Peter Sinclair to give a talk, “No Climate Haven – Michigan's Warming Impacts and Solutions.” Sinclair is known for making complex climate and energy issues understandable through clear language and engaging visuals.
A solar tour will follow from 2:30–4 p.m., featuring solar installations at Inland Seas Education Association and the Bahle-Mawby residence. Volunteers will be available to answer questions.

As the final major event of the season, international riders return to Traverse City to compete for World Cup qualifying points during one of North America’s longest-running traditions in show jumping. Guests can enjoy food and drinks, shopping, hospitality experiences, and open-air seating throughout the grounds while experiencing international competition in Northern Michigan.
