In honor of Health Literacy Month, the Suttons Bay Bingham District Library invites you to hear from a wellness expert Friday mornings in October. All programs are at 10:30am in the library’s lower level Community Room. Each hour-long program will feature a presentation and time for a Q&A.
Kicking us off on Friday October 3, join physical therapist and author Mike Swinger for a presentation on Strength and Balance for Winter. Swinger is a Physical Therapist at Leelanau Physical Therapy and the author of Runner’s Fix: DIY Guide to Running Pain-Free.
On Friday October 10, join licensed esthetician & herbalist Kelly Kehl for a session on ways to nurture the body through the seasonal shift into winter, including herbs, foods, skin care, and tools. A demonstration of skincare tools will be included. Kehl is the owner of Little Beauty Kitchen.
On Friday October 17, join psychiatrist Andrea Skrocki for a presentation and discussion on Seasonal Affective Disorder. Learn practical tools to manage the “winter blues” and how to improve your wellbeing during the winter months. Skrocki is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience, and the CEO of Total Clarity Psychiatry.
Wrapping up the series on Friday October 24, join physical therapist and pelvic floor specialist Dr. Erica O’Neal for a presentation on Pelvic Health Basics. This talk will cover the essentials, common concerns, practical tips and more. O’Neal is a licensed Physical Therapist, certified Brain Injury Specialist, Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, and a trained pelvic health therapist at Trailhead Physical Therapy in Traverse City.

The Suttons Bay Farmers Market is held every Saturday morning from 9 AM – 1 PM.
For the 2025 season, we will be at our established location on St. Joseph St. at the north end of the village. Located on the east side of the intersection of M22 and M204 (between Concord St. and Race St.)

Looking for downhill or cross country ski gear? The Grand Traverse Ski Club is hosting its annual Ski Swap — a great chance for the community to buy and sell downhill and cross-country gear including skis, boots, poles, racing suits, ski coats, and more. Shop gear for all ages and skill levels — from little kids to adults, beginners to expert racers!
Friday, Oct. 17 (6:30–8:30 PM): Drop off your used equipment to sell.
Saturday, Oct. 18 (9:00 AM–1:00 PM): Doors open to the community for shopping.
Saturday, Oct. 18 (1:00–3:00 PM): Pick up any unsold equipment.
Proceeds benefit the Grand Traverse Ski Club. This is an excellent opportunity for new skiers to get started and for experienced racers to find great deals.

From poisoned pipes to hurricane winds, A Water Trail follows a mother’s journey from artist to activist. Out of grief and separation, she co-founds The Sister Tour—a platform where women build through art, storytelling, and enterprise.
Following the screening, join a conversation with the film’s writer, director, and producer, Tuklor Williams—a student at Northwestern Michigan College—along with other panelists involved in clean water advocacy.

Westbound Situation, blends the precision of classical chamber music, the rhythmic drive of bluegrass, and the colorful expression of jazz into a new style of chamber music: chambergrass. The quartet – comprised of Grant Flick on violin, Jake Howard on mandolin, Zach Brown on cello, and Jacob Warren on bass – mixes composition and improvisation seamlessly into their entirely memorized arrangements.
Westbound Situation’s exciting and diverse concerts feature a set of unique original repertoire colored with recognizable standards from many genres. With bluegrass, classical chamber music, and jazz all coming together, a Westbound Situation concert is dazzling musical journey not soon forgotten.
Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are $25 in advance/$30 at the door ($5 discount for certain Bay membership levels).

Something To Smile About: Mixed Media Paintings By Carol C Spaulding
Leelanau County artist Carol C Spaulding brings Something To Smile About, a small group of new mixed media paintings, to the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Lobby Gallery. The exhibition runs September 2 - December 17.
Working intuitively, Spaulding combines cut-paper collage with exuberant painting. She creates lively compositions in a bright, uplifting palette, full of expressive lines, inserting an array of delightful marks and icons. “I like to begin with an open mind and a playful attitude,” Spaulding said.
