From June through August, Norte hosts Balance Bike Club meetups for first-time riders in Traverse City and Elk Rapids.

These low-key, drop-in affairs are fun for everyone—no need to bring your bike, as we have plenty to lend out.

From 10:30AM-11:30AM Wednesdays in Elk Rapids at the Rotary Park. Balance Bike Meet-Ups ​are for riders ages​ ​2–5​.

Sign up for the Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program and stomp, chomp, and roar into reading with magician Joel Tacey!

For all preschool, elementary and middle-school students! Keep your reading skills sharp & have fun by participating in your library’s Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program. All are welcome!

Sign-up starts TODAY June 25th and includes a free book and a reading kit!

Perks of signing up for the Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program include:
– Free Books! Children signed up for the program can choose one free book each week when they attend a Tuesday or Thursday morning program.
– Prizes! Children signed up for the program can earn a prize each week by using their reading log.

Come hang out with us for live music. We'll be serving wine, seasonal cocktails, cider, coffee, and tapas-style small plates to share. Bring your crew or show up solo — Dune Bird is that kind of place.

Known for beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets, the Sunset Beach Bonfire Series is a way to celebrate it all.

On the last Thursday of June, July and August, you are invited to bring your beach chairs and blankets to Stearns Park Beach to enjoy a true Up North evening that includes a bonfire, music and a beautiful sunset. Mark your calendar for June 25, July 30, and August 27, 2026.

Celebrate summer with golden sands, cool water, warm fire and beautiful sky. Sunset Bonfires are open to the public and free to attend, from 8-10 PM

Join the Glen Lake Association's watershed biologists on a fun and educational hands-on tour of Glen Lake on our Discovery Boat (ages 8+). As you cruise along the water, you’ll learn how area lakes were formed, what influences water quality, how to keep the watershed healthy, and so much more.

Two-hour tours run twice per day at 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on June 26, July 10, July 18, July 24, July 31, August 14.

We are proud to offer the Discovery Boat program now completely free of charge! (Registration is still required.)
