Michigan Heritage Home Program Workshop

Michigan Heritage Home Program Workshop

Michigan Heritage Home Program Workshop
Presented by: Robert Myers, Director of History Programming, Historical Society of Michigan

Wednesday, October 25th, noon.
Mills Community House and On Zoom

The Benzie Area Historical Society and the Historical Society of Michigan are hosting a workshop about the Michigan Heritage Home Program at the Mills Community House, 891 Michigan Ave, Benzonia, and on Zoom during the Smithsonian Museum on Main Street.

Your house has a story to tell, and this workshop will help you discover what that story is. The workshop will help you research your home, what to look for, and where to conduct your research. The Michigan Heritage Home program recognizes homes built at least 100 years ago and in considerably original condition. This recognition honors your home’s history and heritage and helps share it with your community. The designation that your home receives will remind community members of your home’s contribution to the heritage that you all share.

Robert (Bob) Myers is the Director of History Programming for the Historical Society of Michigan. He oversees many of the Society’s educational programs, including its Michiganders on the Road motorcoach tours, History Hounds lecture series, History Skills Workshops, and Michigan Heritage Home awards. He holds a BA in history from Alma College and an MA in history from Western Michigan University. He has authored numerous books, and his articles have appeared in Michigan History Magazine, Chronicle, and Michigan Historical Review. He and his wife Candace live in Grand Ledge, where they are restoring their 1903 Colonial Revival home.
