Local Men Who Care Group Forming
Men Who Care of Mason County is a local initiative whose framework is modeled after that of similar groups that have formed in communities nationwide. The local men's group, however, is particularly inspired by the tremendous success and significant community impact of Women Who Care of Mason County.
The concept of these groups is simple but effective: harness the power of collective giving. Men Who Care of Mason County will meet quarterly, with each participant pledging $50 to a nonprofit organization chosen by majority vote after brief presentations. Members can submit local or national nonprofit organizations (funds must stay within Mason County) for consideration, three are chosen at random each quarter to be presented and voted upon. The group is informal with no bylaws, officers, bank accounts, dues, or fees with check and cash donations going directly to the nonprofit organization.
The inaugural meeting of Men Who Care of Mason County will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at People's Church, 115 West Loomis Street, Ludington. All Mason County men who want to commit jointly with others to improving their community are encouraged to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to establish by consensus the recurring pattern for scheduling subsequent quarterly meetings and to hear presentations and then vote for the recipient of the 2025 first-quarter collective award.
If you have questions, would like to receive a detailed PDF brochure, or are interested in participating but are unable to attend February 4 and want to be placed on a confidential e-mail list to keep apprised of the group's activities, contact Men Who Care of Mason County at mwcofmc@gmail.com.
