G.T. Humanists Meeting: Tulips

G.T. Humanists Meeting: Tulips

For the next meeting of the Grand Traverse Humanists, Linda Young will present the program "Tulipia: The Fascinating History of a Horticultural Treasure."

Did you know that at one time you could buy a house with a single tulip bulb? Come learn about tulips: their journey from humble wildflower to precious commodity during Tulip Mania in the 1600s, their symbolism from romance to warfare, and their continuing influence in the arts. Linda, the former Director of Museum Education at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, will take us on the fascinating journey of the tulip, concluding with an “armchair” tour of tulip festivals around the world.
