Fish the Cheese Cup

Fish the Cheese Cup

Take part in a northern Michigan fly fishing tournament ... and raise funds for Child and Family Services' Suicide Prevention and Awareness Trainings.

This is June 3 ... and hosted by The Northern Angler in Traverse City. Teams and individuals can compete to catch the largest bluegill, bass, carp, pike --- or all four of them. You may participate as an individual or as part of a 2-angler team. Once you have paid your entry fees, you will receive an email asking you to register your team for this year's tournament.

TOURNAMENT RULES
Teams can pursue the largest fish in a given category (bluegill, bass, carp, pike) and compete for the Grand Slam (any three species) or Super Slam (all four species).

There will be a optional team meeting the morning of the tournament and anglers can begin fishing at 6:30am. No fish will be scored after the 2:30pm cutoff.

Head back after fishing and enjoy food and drinks before the awards ceremony!

Teams will consist of 1-2 anglers.

1. This is a catch & release tournament.
2. All fish must be taken on fly.
3. Fish wherever you like, as long as you have legal access to the water.
4. Wading, Kayaks, and Boats are all acceptable methods to access water and fish.
5. Fish to be scored will be photographed with the tournament totem (see notes) and an approved measurement device.
6. Photographs without the approved measurement tool & totem twill not be scored.
Size is key in this event, to win a category your team will need to have caught the largest fish.
The Grand Slam and Super Slam is where the real fun is! To compete for the Grand Slam your team will need to catch three of the four species. For the Super Slam your team will need to catch all four species. The largest fish of each species will be scored and the total length of your fish will be your points total. Highest points total wins.
