Champion Freediver and Spearfisher Traveling the Great Lakes for her Next Cookbook
Champion freediver spearfisher Kimi Werner is making her way across the Great Lakes, and Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is her first stop!
Join us on Thursday, July 2, at 6:00 p.m. at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in downtown Alpena for a special evening with this Hawaii native, whose work brings together adventure, sustainable fishing, conservation, and food.
Featured in films and documentaries, as well as a certified culinary chef, author of a cookbook, and sought-after speaker, Kimi has spent years exploring the world’s coastlines, sharing her passions for the natural world and sustainability. Now, she’s visiting the Midwest to connect her passion for cooking, community and conservation with the incredible freshwater resources of the Great Lakes.
The evening will include a screening of one of Kimi’s films, followed by a Q&A session, and cookbook signing. We will have cookbooks available at the Sanctuary Store.
This event is free and open to the public.
Whether you’re interested in conservation, freediving, underwater exploration, sustainable food, or simply hearing an incredible story, you won’t want to miss this special opportunity to meet Kimi Werner.
Co-hosted by the Michigan Spearfishing Association and Friends of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary
