Stories about a police officer, a crossword author, microplastics and modern art earned Interlochen Public Radio awards from the Public Media Journalists Association this year.
The annual awards, announced Monday, honor the best in public radio journalism nationwide, with stations competing in divisions based on their newsroom size.
Here are the four stories that earned PMJA Annual Awards this year:
- Documentary, First Place — Points North: A Sticky Solution for Microplastics (Michael Livingston)
- Interview, First Place — After 20 years of trying, Traverse City man's crossword appears in The New York Times (Ed Ronco)
- News/Public Affairs Program, First Place — Up North Lowdown: Meet the cop building relationships with homeless people in Traverse City (Maxwell Howard)
- Arts Feature, Second Place — In Beulah: UFOs, Lady Liberty, Abe Lincoln and a life of art and service (Maxwell Howard)
