The Interlochen Arts Academy production of "9 to 5" begins at Corson Auditorium this weekend, bringing Dolly Parton’s music and message of empowerment to life.
Director Erin Jerozal says the show’s themes still resonate today, especially for a high school cast exploring what it means to find their voice and their community.
“These women had to find their community to make change,” Jerozal explains. “It’s big, bold, funny, heartbreaking change... but it’s real.”

Alongside Jerozal, stage manager Cates Asleson and actor Chloe Johanek (who plays "Judy") joined IPR’s Christy L'Esperance in the studio to talk about teamwork, backstage cues and Dolly Parton's music.
Interlochen Arts Academy senior Castes Asleson, the show’s production stage manager, says her job is all about precision and and managing multiple cues.
"We keep track of who enters and exits, all of the props and just keep everything organized and on track. We are the information keepers."
