If you studied music in college or graduate school and want to try out a career in public radio, consider applying for a new fellowship at Classical IPR.
The position is funded for one year, with a recommended start date of September 2, 2025 or later.
The position may be renewed for a second year, contingent on funding.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Host live and pre-recorded radio broadcasts on Classical IPR
- Serve as a research and a production assistant for Classical IPR’s radio programs and podcasts, with a specific focus on Intermezzo and additional on-air and in-person programming for children and families
- Digitize and catalog music recordings from CDs, LPs and other physical media in Classical IPR’s music library
- Edit and catalog commercial and archival recordings using Music Master
- Collect and create original digital content for Classical IPR’s website and social media channels
- Participate in in-person community engagement events around the region
Here's the compensation:
- $30,000 annually (exempt position)
- On-campus housing in IPR's Alldredge Cabin (private bed, bath, and sitting area and shared kitchen and laundry with one other person)
- All meals in Interlochen's Stone Cafeteria
- Please note: the room and board compensation is not transferrable
Here's who should apply:
- A person who knows and loves classical music but isn't sure what career they want yet - you'll learn a lot about music and get to interact with it in lots of different ways
- Someone who's interested in lots of different parts of music and wants to help other people of all ages learn about it
- Someone who's great at writing and doesn't need a lot of copy editing
- A person who's eager to learn a lot in a short time
