Program changes and additions for Classical IPR: April 2025

Classical IPR is introducing two new weekday programs this month and making a few changes to our existing programs.

On Monday, April 21, Classical IPR will debut Intermezzo, a new daily classical music program for kids and families.

New episodes will air weekdays at 7:30 a.m. with podcast versions of those episodes available at the same time.

Christy L'Esperance is the host, joined each week by a young co-host. Together, they bounce around ideas about music and about life.

Each week will focus on a specific theme or idea, presented in five acts. Young listeners will have the opportunity to participate in a weekly quiz or riddle by texting their answers.

Listen to the trailer episode of Intermezzo and subscribe in your podcast feed ahead of the April 21 premiere.

Also launching Monday, April 21 on Classical IPR is a new program called the Well-Tempered Commute.

Every weekday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Scott Clemens is your host for an hour of music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Inspired by Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, featuring two sets of preludes and fugues in all major and minor keys, the Well-Tempered Commute is designed to help you transition from the workday to the evening routine.

Whether you're heading home from work, taking kids to and from practice and rehearsal, preparing dinner or enjoying happy hour, the Well-Tempered Commute is the perfect soundtrack for the five o'clock hour.

Classical IPR is also making a few adjustments to our syndicated programming schedule.

We will be removing the choral music program A Joyful Noise from our lineup effective April 15, 2025.

Now on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 7 a.m., listeners will hear the early music program Harmonia.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is moving to Sundays at 4 p.m.

IPR's program list and schedule is available here.

Please contact music director Amanda Sewell at amanda.sewell@interlochen.org with any questions or concerns about these changes or other programs heard on IPR.

Dr. Amanda Sewell is IPR's music director.
