One northern Michigan utility is advising its customers to be without power for weeks.
Great Lakes Energy said in a Monday night statement that it "advises members to prepare for a five-day to multi-week outage event."
OUTAGE INFO
The utility has customers in nine northern Michigan counties — and several downstate, too — and is among the many power providers working to restore service to northern Michigan after historic ice storms.
And those same utilities are racing a new weather pattern that's supposed to arrive Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service says more ice accumulation is possible on Wednesday morning, with the likeliest areas in the interior of northern Lower Michigan, stretching from Gaylord down past Grayling and then over to Cadillac.
Ice accumulation was expected to be up to 0.1", with thunderstorms also possible and gusty winds up to 40 miles per hour. Temperature outlooks called for warmer weather by Thursday at the latest.
