This Sunday, Gary Gatzke performs Frank Proto’s "Carmen Fantasy" with the Traverse City Philharmonic in a program featuring iconic Spanish compositions of the 20th century.
He is one of three soloists in Maestro Kevin Rhodes's "Three Amigos Visit Spain" concert, alongside TC Phil principal pianist Dorothy Vogel and guitarist Matthew Cochran.

A Michigan native, Gatzke has been the principal double bass with the Traverse City Philharmonic since 2006 and also serves as principal with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra. He is an Interlochen alum and currently the Associate Director of Continuing and Community Education at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
"Three Amigos Visit Spain" takes places at Interlochen's Corson Auditorium this Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. The program includes "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" and "Ritual Fire Dance" by Manuel de Falla, "Concierto de Aranjuez" by Joaquin Rodrigo and Gary Gatzke as soloist in "Carmen Fantasy."
