Martha Meek has been dedicated to private music teaching since the late 70s. Her studio offers lessons in guitar, piano, wind instruments, mandolin and ukulele. She has been teaching full-time since the late 90s in the Suttons Bay area and beyond.
This weekend, an ensemble led by Martha Meek is performing a free concert at the Suttons Bay Congregational Church — Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
Hosted by Meek's Suttons Bay Ukulele Orchestra, the concert "PDQ is Bach again" features whimsical performances of music by P.D.Q. Bach, the alter ego of composer Peter Schickele.

The performance includes a variety of unique instruments, such as the pastaphone (a quirky instrument made from uncooked manicotti noodles), Boomwhackers and traditional ukuleles.
Meek's concert blends classical humor and unconventional instruments — "devious" hybrid instruments like Peter Schickele's tromboon.
"Devious instruments... that's Peter Schickele's term for his made up instruments," says Martha Meek. " P.D.Q. Bach had a sense of humor with instrumentation. [There is] a high-level of musicianship that is required in order to play this ridiculously silly music."
The concert is free but encourages donations to support local arts organizations.
