This edition of Classical IPR in Concert is a showtune spectacular!

We revisit "Showtunes with Kate Botello: Holiday Edition" featuring Christmas-themed showtunes and an interview with the Music Director of "Elf" on Broadway, Nate Patten.

We'll hear tunes from merry to melancholy, and everywhere in between (hey, it's Musical Theatre - there's gotta be some drama!).

We've gathered together for our own holiday tradition - the Staff Holiday Special.  It's full of heartfelt holiday choices by your IPR Team, and features genres and styles of music as varied as the people who work here!

From all of us, best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!

Most schools are closed today in honor of Martin Luther King Day. But Pathfinder School in Traverse City will stay open. They're using this as a teachable day, to celebrate and practice the teachings of Dr. King.

"He’s just such a powerful example about what one person can do," says Rob Hansen, director at the school. "One person with courage, one person who has the ability to communicate. One person who can collaborate. Those types of people can be leaders within our community, and we want our students to understand that when they’re three and five years old. You don’t have to wait until you’re in your thirties to make a contribution with the talents you have."

As the Creative Director for The Traverse City Film Festival, Meg Weichman, has seen a lot of films over the years. This week, she stopped by our studio to give us her top five holiday films of all time. “When I put together this list, it was pretty agonizing,” says Weichman. And don’t think the conversation stops at her top five either— Meg also reveals what holiday film offends her most basic sensibilities. 

Plus, our own Aaron Selbig will make his pitch as to why the film Die Hard, is and should be considered a classic Christmas flick.
