U.S. 31 Construction

Around one in six people in northern lower Michigan has a concealed pistol license, or CPL. That's the highest concentration in the state. Soon, they might not need it. A bill in the Michigan Legislature would allow eligible gun owners to carry a concealed weapon without a separate license or training.

Projects include a roundabout on U.S. 31 in Interlochen, traffic light work near the state park and upgrades to Cass Street and Hammond Road near Traverse City.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said they had trouble getting power to new lights on Youker Road, part of a massive detour off U.S. 31.
