Several road construction projects are getting started across northern Michigan.
Crews are preparing to install a roundabout at the Interlochen corner, where J. Maddy Parkway meets U.S. 31.
Throughout the project, traffic will be able to get through heading southbound (technically, westbound in that stretch of road). Northbound/eastbound traffic will need to follow posted detours through the village of Interlochen.
Roadwork is already in full swing as part of the upgrades to Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park, along East Bay in Traverse City.
Right now, drivers are experiencing intermittent lane closures as crews install a new traffic light at the park’s main entrance.
Starting in mid-April, work will begin on a new entrance to the beach side of the park at Three Mile Road and U.S. 31. Traffic will be detoured onto Parsons and Airport Access roads for about five weeks.
