Our conversation with John U. Bacon
We're a little more than a week away from Selection Sunday, when we find out which NCAA teams will be competing in the March Madness tournament.
Michigan Radio sports commentator John U. Bacon says Michigan State will almost certainly make it to the tournament, with a relatively low seed.
Bacon says this isn't a great Michigan State team, but this year's appearance in the tournament will be the school's 18th straight, and that's worthy of attention and respect.
While Michigan State is likely to compete in the tournament, Bacon says Michigan won't. He says their early losses hurt their chances.
"Next season is what you're talking about if you're a Michigan fan," Bacon says.
U of M football coach Jim Harbaugh has also been gaining attention. The coach stopped on the side of I-94 to help two women involved in an accident, and while he has insisted he didn't want this to be spotlighted, it has received sizable coverage.
Harbaugh's fame has only continued to grow, and he has the second-highest number of Twitter followers among college football coaches. Bacon says this popularity may help Harbaugh in recruiting, as prospects are sure to consider the coach and school's image and personality when considering college offers.
