"Hansel and Gretel," composed by Engelbert Humperdinck, is a German opera based on the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. The opera, which premiered in 1893, tells the story of two children, Hansel and Gretel, who are abandoned in the forest and encounter a witch who plans to eat them.
