The Metropolitan Opera’s 2021-22 season of live Saturday matinee broadcasts concludes with Stravinsky’s captivating morality tale The Rake’s Progress.

It stars tenor Ben Bliss as Tom Rakewell, an ambitious but lazy young man. Bass-baritone Christian Van Horn is the diabolical Nick Shadow, who seems to offer him a shortcut to life’s pleasures.

Soprano Golda Schultz is Ann Trulove, whose virtue and courage may be Tom’s only hope for salvation. And mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis makes her network broadcast debut as Baba the Turk, the bearded lady

Susanna Mälkki conducts the Met Orchestra and Chorus in Stravinsky’s brilliant neoclassical score.

The Rake’s Progress will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 11th. Listen to it on Classical IPR.
