This week on Kids Commute, we'll tackle Mozart's giant opera "The Magic Flute" by following just one character - Papageno, the birdcatcher.
Papageno is a sweet, goofy guy hoping to catch some birds - and a lady-dove to call his very own. He gets mixed up on a quest and brings us some of Mozart's sweetest - and funniest - music.
Charles McKerras conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in this week's recording, an English version translated from the original German.
- PAPAGENO: Simon Keenlyside
- TAMINO: Barry Banks
- THE THREE LADIES: Majella Cullagh, Sarah Fox, Diana Montague
- PAMINA: Rebecca Evans
- PAPAGENA: Lesley Garrett
We'll have a fine-feathered Quizlet coming your way, too!
Tune in to Kids Commute on Classical IPR Monday through Friday at 7:40 a.m. or listen any time at the links below.
