This week, From the Top will feature Mauricio García de Jesus.
Mauricio graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy this past May, where he attended for all four years of high school.
At Interlochen, he studied trumpet with Ken Larson.
Mauricio appeared on Classical IPR multiple times while he was a student at Interlochen, including as a student contributor to Kids Commute and as a member of a brass quintet the appeared in IPR's Studio A podcast (see below).
He received multiple awards from From the Top, including the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist scholarship and the Tim Banker Talent Development Award.
For From the Top, Mauricio played selections from the Slavische Fantasie by Carl Höhne with Interlochen collaborative pianist Ya-Ju Chuang.
