We’ve Got Issues: What does Line 5 deal mean for pipeline's safety?

The oil pipeline under the Straits of Mackinac will be shut down during bad storms. That’s just one of the agreements reached in a deal announced last week by the state of Michigan and the Canadian oil transport company Enbridge.

The state is investigating the safety of Enbridge’s Line 5, following years of pressure from environmental groups and the public. 

Enbridge has also agreed to replace a segment of Line 5 that crosses under the St. Clair River.
