Recently, the oboe students from Interlochen Arts Academy and their instructor Dane Philipsen visited Studio A at IPR. They prepared a piece to mark the occasion of the oboe studio in Interlochen's new Music Center being named for Dan Stolper, long-time instructor of oboe at Interlochen.
The oboe students and their teacher (nine in all) played the Concerto in D by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier. Philipsen discussed the intricacies and nuances involved in the piece and its value to developing musicians.
Members of the oboe studio at Interlochen Arts Academy this year are Hoon Chang, Christopher Correa, Donghwi Kang, Jeehoon Kim, Emily Luo, Jonah Richardson, Nathaniel Sanchez, Angela Scates and Guillermo Ulloa.
