Reconstructing bassoon teaching pieces and arranging Ozzy Osbourne songs for his group Rock E. Bassoon are all in a day's work for Doug Spaniol.
He and his daughter Emma recently joined Classical IPR via Zoom from their basement in Indianapolis.
Doug Spaniol explained how recreating the keyboard part for Julius Weissenborn's Tone and Performance Studies was a little like solving a crossword puzzle. Then, he and Emma performed a selection from the collection he recently published.
They then put the pedal to the metal and performed an excerpt of Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train."
