Two Democrats, a Republican and an Independent will meet in Traverse City on Wednesday and Bellaire on Thursday — part of a broader tour. The candidates are running for Michigan's 1st District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

That seat has been held by U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Watersmeet) for nearly a decade. The best known Democrat in the race is Callie Barr. And neither plans to be at the event held by the group Traverse Indivisible Education & Solidarity.

Still, organizer Tricia Hoyt hopes voters will come to hear the views of those who made time to be there. Listen to her talk with IPR through the audio with this post.

The forums in our region are:

  • Wednesday, April 1 at Milliken Auditorium, 1410 College Dr., Traverse City. Doors at 5:15, forum starts at 6.
  • Thursday, April 2 at the ASI Community Center, 102 S. Maple St., Bellaire. Doors open at 5:30, forum at 6.

More details here.

We'll also hear about an upcoming symposium on Parkinson's Disease in northern Michigan. Details here.
