Interlochen Public Radio is proud to bring you episodes of Michigan Dreaming, a podcast series from Bridge Michigan. See Bridge's Michigan summer bucket list.

As part of the annual Au Sable River Canoe Marathon, athletes paddle 120 miles through the night. While the athletes are hardcore, the race is billed as the toughest spectator sport in America. Cheering all night long was rated No. 4 on the Michigan Dreaming bucket list, which the nonprofit news organization Bridge Michigan put together with reader suggestions. Bridge Michigan’s Laura Herberg followed along as one Au Sable River Canoe Marathon superfan stayed up all night.

The episode was produced by Bridge Michigan and contains music by Joystock - https://www.joystock.org.

Laura Herberg comes to Bridge from Outlier Media, where she worked as a Civic Life Reporter. Her journalism career took off at WDET, where she produced daily talk shows, created audio vignettes for galleries, anchored the news and hosted podcasts. Known for her sound-rich feature stories, Laura has won several awards and was named the Michigan Associated Press Best Reporter for Radio Broadcasting four times.
