Trio Azura was awarded the Grand Prize Medal at this year's 51st Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The trio also received the "Lift Every Voice Prize" for the best performance of a work by an underrepresented composer, along with the Horszowski Trio Prize.
The trio is visiting Interlochen Center for the Arts this week as part of their Gold Medal tour around the Midwest and abroad in Italy.
Trio Azura formed in 2022 at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California. The current members are violinist Duncan McDougall, cellist Yejin Hong and pianist Yanfeng (Tony) Bai.

Founded in 1973 in South Bend, Indiana, USA, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition has grown to become the largest chamber music competition in the world, and one of the most prestigious classical music prizes attainable today.
About the "Lift Every Voice Prize"
As part of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, all senior division ensembles perform a complete work by a historically underrepresented composer in the chamber music world. Trio Azura won this award with a performance of Jennifer Higdon's Piano Trio No. 1.
