Anna Snecinski and Santiago Ramirez are high school pianists studying at Interlochen Arts Camp.
They recently visited IPR's Studio A to perform and talk about their music selections.
Anna Snecinski is 16 years old. She is from Tampa, FL.
Anna performed the Intermezzo in A major (op. 118, no. 2) by Johannes Brahms.
She told IPR she enjoys all of the emotional and stylistic contrasts in this piece, especially how Brahms goes from "peaceful" to "stormy" so quickly.
Santiago Ramirez is 16 years old. He is from Medellín, Colombia.
Santiago performed an original composition entitled "Pasillo no. 1."
A pasillo is a traditional Colombian dance with a distinctive rhythm in 3/4 time.
Santiago told IPR that he creates the melody in his head, since he already knows what the rhythm is going to be. Then if he likes the melody in his head, he writes it down.
