This week, Christy L'Esperance and her co-host Isaac talk about the wonderful worlds within Studio Ghibli movies — classic animated works with timeless characters and stories — through selections of the film scores, composed by Joe Hisaishi! We'll check out music from a different film each day.
Yesterday we talked about the film "My Neighbor Totoro" and how the young characters found comfort in nature and their own creativity. Today we'll talk about a Japanese anime film from Studio Ghibli released the year after Totoro in 1989, "Kiki's Delivery Service."
The film is about a young witch who must find her way in a new city as she navigates uncertainty, friendships and burnout. Hisaishi's music conveys Kiki's magical journey through her highs and lows.
