You may not know that a new sixth branch of the military was founded just 6 years ago in December 2019: the United States Space Force. Its roots go back about 70 years, though. In the 1950s and 1960s, the U.S. military recognized the strategic importance of satellites for communication, reconnaissance, navigation, and missile warning. Space Force personnel are called "Guardians" and The branch’s motto, Semper Supra (Always Above), reflects its mission to remain vigilant in the ultimate high ground.
