You know how some things come easily to you and other things are really hard to get a handle on? For instance, Christy L'Esperance can whistle pretty well, but can't juggle. Mr. L'Esperance can juggle but can't whistle.

Christy asked these piano prodigies what they're NOT good at. You'll hear from Raditya, Sophia and Ryan.

Just like our Lang Lang Young Scholars, some famous composers were really good at some things, not so good at other things. For example, French composer Erik Satie had trouble playing the piano and even reading music. He was even being labeled as being the "laziest student" at the Paris Conservatory.

Despite this, he had great instincts and a composer and a unique musical vision. Here's part of piece he wrote called "The Dreamy Fish," played by Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

This week's Mystery Melody

It's time to test your ears. Each week we have a mystery melody that we have to figure out with likely not enough information. It relates to our topic. So this week our melody has to do with the piano. We'll make the melody less mysterious each day.

If you know the mystery melody, text your name and the title and we’ll give you a shout out on Friday. The number to text is (833) 490-4718.

Christy L'Esperance is Classical IPR's morning host and producer.
