Music by Request for August 22 & 23, 2026

This week's requests included iconic film soundtracks, contemporary choral music, performances from northern Michigan and music for listeners' wedding anniversaries.

The image above features the Great Gate at Kiev in an architectural design by Russian artist and architect Viktor Hartmann from 1869. This design inspired a movement from Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," which was no. 13 on this weekend's show.

Listeners chose choral works, operettas and art songs in Greek, Hungarian, German, English and Russian.

The episode includes contemporary choral music composed by Nico Muhly and Jake Runestad, as well as multiple selections celebrating wedding anniversaries.

"Bon anniversaire de mariage" to Music by Request regulars Donna and Ed in Scottville as well as Barb and Scott in Charlotte and Irons.
