Bookmarks comes to Traverse City

Anne Strainchamps, host of the public radio show "To The Best Of Our Knowledge," has been asking interview subjects about their reading habits for years. She and the TTBOOK team have gathered the best of those conversations in "Bookmarks" a series of short stories of the books that have had a profound impact on writers and thinkers that you love.

These aren't just book recommendations — TTBOOK asks for stories of intimate relationships and life-changing encounters with books. Stories about the books we can’t forget.

Anne will be at Crooked Tree Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to share book recommendations from the world’s greatest authors. At this event, hear about the books that shaped the hearts and minds of writers like Margaret Atwood, Tommy Orange, Jacqueline Woodson and Billy Collins. Let us know you are coming and invite friends on Facebook.

Anne's visit to Traverse City is a collaboration with the National Writers Series and Friends of Traverse Area District Library. On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Anne will interview Susan Orlean at the National Writers Series about her investigative story, “The Library Book.” It’s about the burning of the Los Angeles Library in 1986.

Peter Payette is the Executive Director of Interlochen Public Radio.
