Sunny skies greeted racers for the 35th annual Bell's Brewery Iceman Cometh Challenge this past Saturday.

Competitors ride from Kalkaska to Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City — rain, snow or shine.

More than 4,000 people raced this year, including nearly 150 professional cyclists.

Aidan Rupp, an 11-month-old whose family traveled from Livonia, competed in the quarter-mile Sno-Cone race for kids.

"He just started walking two weeks ago," said his mom Carlee Turner. "We registered him a couple months ago when he started standing."

The full-length course, which changes slightly each year, was just shy of 31 miles.

"I thought it was great. I thought it was the best course so far," said Heath Esch, who traveled from Muskegon to race in his third Iceman.

Traverse City residents Alex Primeau and Erica O’Hearn won in the amateur men’s and women’s categories.

Noah Ramsay of Toronto won in the professional men’s category and Melisa Rollins from Alpine, Utah won the women’s.
