The curtain closed on Earthwork Harvest Gathering this weekend.

Like other festivals around the country it was struggling with pressures like inflation and a shortage of volunteers.

A hot late summer weekend turned to cold and rain on Sunday. Some of Earthwork's biggest fans showed up for the final festival.

Frank and Shelley Youngman were among them. They have attended every Harvest Gathering. The Youngmans said Earthwork Harvest Gathering has always been more than just a festival.

"One of my favorite memories was a panel I went to in the barn, it was about water," Frank Youngman said. "There was a priest, and a rabbi, a Buddhist priest, an atheist, various spiritual leaders discussing the importance of water in their faith traditions. This is at a music festival. It was just so incredible. It was a Sunday morning. No place does this."

The Youngmans credit Seth Bernard with his vision for helping bring people together as a community.
