Celebrate Polish Heritage Month and discover the beauty of Wycinanki, the traditional Polish folk art of hand-cut paper design. In this fun and creative workshop, you’ll have the option to personalize one of the instructor’s samples—no two are ever alike—or design your own original composition. Using layers of colorful paper, scissors, and modern tools, you’ll explore the patterns, symmetry, and storytelling that define this time-honored art form. Along the way, you’ll learn key techniques and design principles, as well as a bit of the fascinating history and cultural significance behind Wycinanki. Whether your inspiration comes from nature, heritage, or imagination, your finished piece will be uniquely yours—ready to mat, frame, and proudly display. This hands-on experience blends tradition with creativity, offering a meaningful connection to Polish folk art and a fresh appreciation for the artistry of paper cutting.

In this workshop, Cheryl Ann Boc-Chidester will guide participants in creating one-of-a-kind cyanotype images using a historic camera-less photography technique invented in 1842. Students will place flat objects on paper coated with an iron salt solution, expose them to UV light, and wash the paper to reveal striking white and Prussian blue images, which can be enhanced with light watercolor washes. During the two-hour class, each student will create at least two images. The instructor will provide a variety of flat objects, including dried flowers, leaves, lace, ribbon, and seashells, but participants are also welcome to bring their own materials to create personalized, unique works of art.

Join The Kingsley Folk School at Kingsley Branch Library for a relaxed, no-prep storytelling community circle. Inspired by NPR’s The Moth, the Everyone Has a Story series invites you to simply show up and share—no scripts, no pressure. Just real moments from your life, told in the moment.

Together, we’ll listen, laugh, reflect, and connect with neighbors through the power of spontaneous storytelling.

Participants are welcome to speak for up to 5 minutes, or simply come to enjoy the stories and the sense of community.

This gathering happens on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the Kingsley Branch Library.

Event is free and open to all, with no registration required.

Discover the art of watercolor portraiture in this hands-on class. You’ll explore essential skills such as understanding facial proportions, mixing a range of skin tones, and layering translucent washes to create depth and dimension. Eleonora will guide you step by step through techniques for capturing light, shadow, and texture, helping you bring your subject’s personality to life on paper. With watercolor’s fluid and expressive qualities, you’ll learn how to add mood and character to your portraits while developing greater confidence in your painting process. This class is designed for both beginners eager to try portrait painting techniques and those with some experience who want to refine their approach. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with new techniques, a deeper understanding of portrait painting, and a finished watercolor portrait to take home.
